Pokémon UNITE to feature as an official medal event in the eSports branch of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026
The Olympic Council of Asia has announced that a total of 11 titles, including Pokémon UNITE, will feature as part of the eSports portion of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 (第20回アジア競技大会 愛知/名古屋2026). The inclusion of eSports in the Asian Games was first seen as a demonstration at Jakarta-Palembang 2018, before becoming an official medal event in Hangzhou 2022.
The eSports division at the 2026 Asian Games will feature a diverse range of titles spanning multiple genres, including simulators, multiplayer online battle arenas (MOBA), and battle royale games. A total of 11 different games have been selected by a dedicated title selection task force with three experts tasked with picking a variety of games across several genres:
- Street Fighter 6
- Pokémon Unite
- Honor of Kings
- League of Legends – Asian Games Version
- PUBG - Asian Games Version
- Mobile Legends – Bang Bang
- Dreams of 3 Kingdoms
- Naroka – Bladepoint
- Grand Turismo (7)
- Efootball Series
- Puyo Puyo Champions
The 2026 Games will be held in the Aichi Prefecture and its capital Nagoya in Japan from September 19th to October 4th, 2026. The event is set to return to its traditional 4-year cycle, after the 2022 edition was postponed to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
