Pokemon Day Animated Special "Dragonite and the Special Delivery" now available on the Japanese Pokémon YouTube channel
A new animated special, 『カイリューとゆうびんやさん』 (Kairyū to Yūbinya-san, transl. Dragonite and the Mail Carrier) or Dragonite and the Special Delivery, is now available on the Japanese Pokémon YouTube channel in commeration of Pokémon Day 2025 (February 27th). This special is 14 minutes in length and its cast includes 福本莉子 Riko Fukumoto as Hana, 藤原夏海 Natsumi Fujiwara as Rio, and 高橋伸也 Shinya Takahashi as Dragonite.
The special sees Hana, a young girl who admires the postman Dragonite, finding a letter with no address and going on an adventure with Pokémon to find the sender.
郵便配達員のカイリューに憧れ、エース配達員を目指すパルデア地方の少女・ハナは、ある日宛先のない手紙を渡され、突如差出人を探しに奔走することに。
相棒のホゲータと共に街中を走り回り、ついに差出人の少年リオを見つけだすことに成功する。
話を聞いてみると、この手紙は、カントー地方に単身赴任している父の誕生日を祝うためにリオが書いたものだった。
しかし、その日はもうすでに父親の誕生日当日で・・・。
Hana is a 12-year-old girl from the Paldea region who admires the mail carrier Dragonite, and aims to be an ace mail carrier herself. One day, she is given a letter with no address, and suddenly has to scramble to find the sender. While running around town with her partner Fuecoco, she finally succeeds in finding the sender, a boy named Rio. She learns that Rio wrote the letter to his father, who is working away from home in the Kanto region, in order to wish him a happy birthday. But, it turns out that it's already the day of his birthday...

This special is produced by CoMix Wave Films, the studio behind such works as Your Name, Weathering with You, and Suzume. It features the theme song 「紙ひこうき」 (Kamihikōki, transl. Paper Airplane) by suis from Yorushika, and an original soundtrack by Evan Call. Both of these were made available for pre-order now with the initial announcement of the special, and have now been released digitally.
