Four Job Fiesta Pokémon charity challenge now live, raising money for Trans Lifeline — event running until April 15th

The Pokémon Don't Catch'em All Exclusive Kanto Edition charity event is now live. It is the latest of Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta's side-events, wherein participants will each receive six random Pokémon families from the Kanto region and must play through the game using only them. The Generation 1 games, FireRed/LeafGreen, and Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee are all supported in the challenge.

Besides the base concept of getting six random ones, other Pokémon may use field moves and abilities, but are not allowed to be used in battle. Participants are also guaranteed to get a Pokémon capable of learning Surf and Strength, as well as one of Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle. To account for version exclusives or postgame captures such as Lickitung in Yellow, the randomization may give paired Pokémon in which one or the other can be used. Trading for the other (or for evolution) is allowed, but the other of the pair must be captured first and traded. Finally, the use of the Partner Pikachu or Eevee in place of one of the randomized Pokémon is allowed in the Let's Go games.

The Four Job Fiesta is a popular challenge held between June and August centered around Final Fantasy V. Participants are given four random job classes, and must have one of each in the party at all times when possible, beating the game with simply those. It has proven to be immensely popular, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for various charities through pledges and the "Job Fair", allowing participants to change the jobs they are given.

In recent years, the host of the event, revenantkioku, has been holding various side-events in the months when the fiesta is not active. While this was done once a month in the past, it has recently moved to two side events per month. Besides the Pokémon challenge discussed in this article, the other one currently active is centered around Dragon Quest III HD-2D. Upcoming fiestas will be centered around Suikoden I & II, and indie game Scarmonde.
