Yamagata Prefecture in Japan to receive its first Poké Lids - five new type-themed designs coming this summer
The Pokémon Local Acts program has unveiled five new Poké Lid designs today, which will be the first ever to be installed in Yamagata Prefecture in Japan. Poké Lids are donations from The Pokémon Company to prefectures, and along with events and merchandise hosted by Pokémon Local Acts, are intended to encourage tourism to various areas of Japan.
In the absence of a prefectural Ambassador Pokémon, which would usually act as a mascot, these five new Poké Lids feature Water, Fire, Ice, and Grass types in their designs. Sagae City’s upcoming Poké Lid specifically features Cherubi and Cherrim, as the area “boasts the largest number of tourist cherry orchards in the country.” Pikachu attended the unveiling ceremony today in Yamagata Prefecture, where it was announced that the new Poké Lids would be installed throughout June.
