Aichi Prefecture in Japan to receive five new Poké Lids - new design featuring Shiny Pokémon coming this summer
The Pokémon Local Acts program has unveiled five new Poké Lid designs today, some of which were installed today and some of which will be installed later this month. One of the new designs is special in that it is one of the only Poké Lids to feature a Shiny Pokémon. Poké Lids are donations from The Pokémon Company to prefectures, and along with events and merchandise hosted by Pokémon Local Acts, are intended to encourage tourism to various areas of Japan.
In the absence of a prefectural Ambassador Pokémon, which would usually act as a mascot, these five new Poké Lids display a variety of Pokémon related to the history or features of the region they’re installed in. Seto City’s lid, for instance, shows Magmar lighting a kiln, due to the city’s strong connection to pottery. Pikachu attended the announcement ceremony today at the Aichi Prefectural Building, and the installation of the Magikarp and Komala Poké Lid in Nagoya City.
