Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia, the first Japanese expansions for the next series of the Pokémon TCG, officially revealed at 2025 Japan Championships

As part of the Day 2 livestream for this weekend's 2025 Pokémon Japan Championships, Pokémon TCG fans have received their first look since the Pokémon Presents video for Pokémon Day 2025 back in February at new cards from the next series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The new Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia expansions, marking the start of this new series, are scheduled for release in Japan on August 1st. As the names suggest, these sets feature the reintroduction of Mega Evolution to the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

In this new series, Mega Evolution Pokémon will function as a subset of Pokémon ex. Unlike before, they share the same Evolution Stage as their base form - for example, Mega Gardevoir ex evolves from Kirlia and is a Stage 2 Pokémon. While they feature stronger attacks and more HP than normal Pokémon ex of their Evolution Stage, they also feature the Mega Pokémon ex rule, causing them to grant three Prize Cards when they are Knocked Out, rather than the typical two for Pokémon ex. This variant of Pokémon ex uses a black-and-yellow
ex
symbol.

In addition to the usual 5 card packs for both sets, which will retail at 180円 each, today's announcement also revealed the Premium Treasure Box MEGA. This box, which will retail at 6,350円, can be thought of as something like the Japanese equivalent to the Trainer's Toolkit boxes released overseas, and includes 10 packs each of Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia, together with numerous staple Trainer and Special Energy cards for deck building, a card box, a Pokémon coin, acrylic damage and Special Condition markers, and a damage counter case.

Also available will be special Pokémon Center Sets for each expansion, which will be priced at at 12,800円. These exclusive sets each contain two booster boxes of either Mega Brave or Mega Symphonia (for a total of 60 packs, or 300 cards), a pack of 64 deck sleeves, a deck case, a large card box, and four card box dividers. The deck sleeve and deck case accessories in the Mega Brave set will have a design featuring Lillie and Cosmog, while those in the Mega Symphonia set will have a design featuring Acerola and Sableye.

Translations of all cards from the new sets shown today, including reprints and those cards originally revealed earlier this year, will be added below over the next few hours, and will be added to the Bulbapedia page for these paired expansions in due course.
