On the Origin of Species: Sobble, Drizzile, and Inteleon

Naturally, this chapter cover has me losing my mind. After all this time, our two protagonists are finally shown face-to-face. I love the opposite energies coming from both of them. While Violet reminds me of a golden retriever ready to make friends, Scarlet looks annoyed that she has another obstacle in her way…or like her usual self. I’m really excited for their dynamic to get rolling, and this chapter of Pokémon Adventures: Scarlet & Violet was already a great start.

The third mini-volume of Pokémon Adventures: Scarlet & Violet is finally here! After last chapter gave us the start of such a showy battle, I couldn’t wait for a thrilling conclusion. Iono really seemed to throw a wrench into Scarlet’s plans—it got me thinking this would be the first time she wouldn’t have an easy win. As for whether that actually happens… Well, we’ll see how that turns out.

‘Ello, ‘ello, hola! Ciao and bonjour! It’s somehow both alarming and hilarious to see Scarlet wearing pigtails and having anything other than a frown on her face. The first time I’d seen her disguise out of context, I assumed she was a new character—absolutely not the highly serious treasure hunter with a terrifying reputation.

A unique aspect of the series is that its ending will be determined by the number of reposts the first four chapters receive.

The Open Sky Titan sure makes for an intimidating bird. If I was ranking the scariest birds in the Scarlet & Violet arc, I’d put it a hair over Chapter 7’s Quaxly. Trust me, that says a lot.

There’s a lot to love in this chapter—whether it’s the hilarious facial expressions drawn by Satoshi Yamamoto, the chaotic characterization of Brassius, or the little insight we get into Scarlet’s life. I found myself smiling throughout it.

Volume 2’s first chapter sets up for lots of excitement ahead! When it first released in CoroCoro, I was a bit nervous about how I was going to approach it in a review, as it definitely felt like it was missing something. Now that we’ve got the full chapter, a lot of my initial questions are answered, and there’s some new content to enjoy! I love that while Scarlet continues to be closed off to everyone she meets, Violet’s list of best friends keeps on growing.

It’s our first fully Scarlet-centric chapter! As much as I love Violet, it’s so refreshing to see the spotlight solely shining on Scarlet. She’s such a fun character to follow, and I’m excited for the mystery around her backstory to be unraveled.

As of this chapter of Pokémon Adventures’s Scarlet & Violet arc, I’d have to say that say Violet is under consideration to become my favorite Pokédex Holder. He’s such a dummy, and I mean this in the best way possible. Am I getting ahead of myself because this is only the fourth chapter? Probably—but it’s hard not to smile when you see Violet and his chaotic, yet innocent nature.

Hi, my name’s Vendredi, and I’ll be writing a series of reviews for Pokémon Adventures’s Scarlet & Violet arc! As a huge fan of both Pokémon Adventures and SV, I couldn’t wait to see how Hidenori Kusaka and Satoshi Yamamoto would take on the new games. SV has such a character-driven story—it seems like the perfect fit for Pokémon Adventures. There are so many great plot lines and lovable characters at their disposal. The first chapter has been out since August 21st, 2023 and is long overdue for discussion.
